1901 Census Search Page

Many thanks to Roger McDonnell for the effort he and his volunteers have put forth in transcribing all of the 1901 census data that is contained in this data base.

This search page will perform a lookup in the 1901 Census database, and provide the user with all records that match the text input for the fields where the user has provided an entry.  If the user leaves a field blank, the database will will provide an output regardless of the contents in the blank field. In other words, only those fields where the user has provided an entry will be searched in the database.

The database has recently been redesigned to provide a much faster search, and additionally the search can now be performed using the soundex code for the surname.  For a soundex search, click the soundex box at the bottom of the form.

The 1901 census database has been redesigned to provide a significant increase in search speed.  In order to obtain the increase in search speed, the user MUST use the Search Method selection of EXACT (case sensitive) from the drop down menu for any field that has text entered.  All of the other search methods will work as before, but will not provide the benefit of increased search speed.
