Griffiths Survey shows a Roman Catholic "Chapel" at Map Reference (42)1.c in Townland of Killeenrevagh, Killinvoy Parish, Roscommon. Lessor was Louisa Pelly. Does anyone know the name of this chapel, if it is in use today and where its old (1840-1860) records might be found? Also, what other land in Roscommon did Louisa Pelly occupy? Many thanks. |

At Griffith’s Valuation Louisa Pelly was Immediate Lessor of numerous lots of land in three Civil parishes:
Killinvoy Civil parish – Killeenrevagh townland,
Roscommon Civil parish – Ardkeel townland,
Roscommon Civil parish – Ballybride townland.
The History of Elphin Diocese by R. Francis Beirne, (2000), lists an old RC chapel in Killinvoy townland, which adjoins Killeenrevagh townland.
For a map of Killinvoy Civil parish see

In the 1840s a number of Catholic parishes were combined. The old Killinvoy Catholic parish is now part of Knockcroghery Catholic parish.
Some parochial records for Knockcroghery Catholic parish are on LDS microfilm 989752. Catholic Church Parochial registers of Killinvoy, Kilmeane, and Rahara, 1841-1881.
Baptisms, 1841-1860, 1854-1881; marriages, 1841-1858, 1864-1881; deaths, 1854-1881.
The LDS British Isles Vital Records CD available from www.familysearch.org includes some records for Knockcroghery Catholic parish.
