I'm trying to determine if there is a link between
the Martin Rush in the 1901 Ballymurray Census
and the following Rush Family.
Father - Martin Rush
Children - Mary K. (b.1902)
Winifred (b.1904) Ellen (b.1906)
Margaret (b. 1908) Michael (b. 1910).
It's possible they lived in Batford, Fuerty
at some time.

In 1925, Martin Rush was living in
Batford, Fuerty, Co. Roscommon.
Does anyone know where that is?
and how far it is from Ballymurray?

I can't identify Batford itself, but Fuerty is about 2.5 miles south-west of Roscommon town.

Ballymurray is about 2.5 miles south-east of Roscommon on the N61 main road to Athlone. It lies about 5 miles due East of Fuerty cross-country.

They're both on OS sheet 40 (Discovery Series) from the Ordnance Survey of Ireland.

Hope that helps

Andrew,
I believe you have the wrong Ballymurray.
The one I'm asking about is in Elphin Parish.
I think you reference the one in Kilmeane Parish
in Athlone Barony.
Thanks anyway.

Yes, it was the Kilmeane one I was referring to.

Elphin would be quite a long way from Fuerty - up in the North of County Roscommon.

John,

A Martin Rush in Fuerty was the parish priest, but I think that may have been too early for your man. He married various members of my family in the nineteenth century, all in Fuerty.
If I can help more, do ask.
