My Family of three adults will be visiting Ireland in mid July.
Of course one of our destinations will be the Parish of Kilglass, where our McDonald Family originated from.
As many members of this site have visited this area, when attending the Ballykilcline Reunions, I wondered if someone could give me some advice in regards to transportation and accommadations while visiting Ireland.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Our starting point on arrival will be Dublin.
Thank you in advance,
John, Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada |

Have visited Roscommon 14 times in the past 18 years. On all visits stayed at Gleesons Guest House in the town square of Roscommon town. Great people, great food, great location! Transportation-wise---driving in Dublin is crazy but do-able. One could take the train or the bus to Roscommon and then rent a car there. Dealer is in the southern part of the town. While in County Roscommon don't miss the beautiful park that incorporates the view of the castle. It is right around the corner from Gleesons. The effigy of Rory O'Connor (Last HIgh King of Ireland) is located in the Abbey---just a block tor two from Gleesons. Kitty O'Shea's (the bar next door) is that last place the famous 19th century statesman, Charles Parnell, gave a speech. (He died suddenly a week or so later.) On the modern side, Roscommon has a lovely new swimming pool with Aquajoggers for folks who like to run in the water rather than submerge swimming. You'll love the West of Ireland.
