: I am trying to find details of my family's history. My
: grandfather was Peter Fannon of Co. Roscommon. He came
: to America, I believe, around 1910-1920 with at least
: one of his brothers. I'm told he came from a family of
: ten brothers. Any information would be appreciated.
have you also tried searching under an alternate spelling of Fanning. my great grandfather was a fanning but i have seen his name spelled fannon in various reasearches. These fannings came from roscommon at doughill.cloonfinlough in the mid 19th century.Tryin the variant might help.

I have just found out this Christmas that I had a Great Uncle who emigrated from Oldham in Lancashire about the turn of the century possibly earlier. He was a Fannon nobody knows his name however he was my Great Grandmothers brother she was called Bridget another brother was John known as Johnny there were supposedly ten children. He was reputed to have emigrated to Pawcatuck I would dearly love to know if there is a connection there with the name Fannon! If anyone would like to E mail me at my office Email above please please do if you know anything. We do have a photograph of this individual posted from the States
