: : : : I am interested in researching my Irish roots. My great-grandfather Keyes came from Athlone in Roscommon County, and emigrated to the U.S. at the time of the potato famine. My other great-grandparents, the Earlys, came from Mohill in County Leitrim, emigrating at the same time. Also, another ancestor was named Ross, also from Roscommon County. Does anyone have any information about these surnames or any surviving relatives? Thanks

: : : Joan,

: : : Where in the States did your Early family settle.

: : : Eleanor

: : Eleanor, they settled in New England---Connecticut.
: : My great- grandfather's name was Michael Early, and
: : my great-grandmother's was Bridget Reynolds. Do you
: : know anything about them or surviving relatives?
: : Thanks!

: Joan,

: The reason I asked was because I am computerising the records of Holy Cross Church in Brooklyn - the baptismal and marriage records from 1850 and Early happens to be a name I have seen frequently. This parish was heavily Roscommon and Leitrim. Eleanor
