I just came across this snippet of information. It isn't clear if they mean All of the records will be done by November, or just the Tendering. I hope it will be the former.
Up to 300,000 church records going back to 1900 are to be computerised by Dublin libraries in a major IT project.
The contract will involve baptisms, marriages and deaths data currently filed on paper index cards.
The project will include all retrievable records filed on index cards since 1900.
The successful IT firm will have to painstakingly computerise the records so that people can view them online.
Dublin City Public Libraries today invited IT firms to tender for the contract, which must be completed by November. |
