I am attending the FGS conference in Boston this year at the end of August. I would love to meet with other attendees doing Roscommon research. My paternal family names are Flatherty (Easterfield Athleague) Farrell (Cloonyourish & Roscommon town) Larkin (Shankeogh) and Connaughton (Farranykelly). Maternal names Godfrey, Mullarkey, Fitzgerald, and Bermingham all of Benmore & Ballinross, Kiltullagh. Most immigration was to Boston, Providence, New Haven and New York. Thanks, Nuala

Hope this isn't too dumb: what is the FGS conference? I'm new to some of this.
Also: I have Fitzgeralds on my maternal side from mid-1800s. Know very little about them except that some of the family may have been horse traders in or around Marquette Michigan, Sault Ste. Marie, or Ontario/US border. If you would have any Fitzgerald info that might concern this family, I'd be happy to hear from you. Thanks. sueshie@yahoo.com

FGS is Federation of Genealogical Societies. They hold an annual conference in the United States. I enjoy going and this time there are a lot of speakers from Ireland. Check out their website at http://www.fgs.org/2006conf/FGS-2006.htm
Sorry, they are not my Fitzgeralds. Good luck in your research.

My Larkins originated near Ballymoe. I can trace one person to Marnellsgrove in 1803 and know of others in Shankoagh and Laragh & Ross but have not found the exact connection between them yet. The family graveyard was in Ballintubber. Any connection? tonylarkin@hotmail.com
