In the Roscommon Electors List 1932 a Martin and Mary Gaughan are recorded in Goff St., Roscommon |

Thank you very much for the information which I will add to my file. I have been lucky to find out that Martin Gaughan taught as a Gaelic teacher at the Roscommon Vocational School from 1929 to 1947. He organised many Feis for the County.
My burning desire is to locate the two Feis medals that he bought and awarded in 1923 for the Strokestown Feis one of which was to a James Ryan, Lismey, Strokestown who was a "beautiful dancer". I have been fortunate to do this from the local papers, Roscommon Herald, Messenger and Strokestown Democrat at the newspaper library at Colindale, London. My interest has now broadened to the feis in mayo and Roscommon and building a file about these.
Can also supply information about the McGarry family from frenchpark 1901-1930s. |
