Hi Jim
I sent you an e-mail last week with an outline of our family. Pauline is my sister and there are 12 in our family, 11 still living. Pauline and Jim married on 19th May 1975 in St Josephs Church Aughavas. They have 3 children - twins James & Aisling born 6/41979 and Tara born 4/2/1981. Do you need information about the Bohan Family Tree ?

HI James
I found Paul Bohan & Catherine McCabe's marriage record. They were married on 6th Feb 1896 and Catherine was from Gubbs, Cloone. There were no ages given only that they were over 21. The witnesses on the day were Patrick Monaghan & Anne McCabe. Catherine's father's name was Patrick McCabe..

Bye for now
Anne

James
When you say go back another generation do you mean my great-grandfather Francis Bohan.
Here is some of the information I sent previouslyFrancis (great-grandfather)
Francis & John Bohan moved from Killaveha, Cloone before the famine to Aughavas & bought 31 acres of land.

Francis built his house in the valley of the land that he bought with John. He married Anne Maguire,Sonnamore, Cloone
They had 7 children named
.
Mary Ellen b.15/9/1846
Charles (Cormac) b. 11/10/1848
Patrick b. 6/10/1850
Sally (Sarah) b. 19/12/1852
Catherine b. 14/12/1855
Jane b. 10/9/1857
Paul b. unknown, he may have been born in 1865 as he gave his age on 1901 census as 35 but this is out of sequence with the other Bdays.

Mary Ellen
She never married, she emigrated to the US to work for her uncle Paul in PA. She helped to rear his children. She returned to live with her brother Paul in Killyfea in the 1890's ?. She lived out her days there until her death in 1932. She had gone blind before her death. Her brother Paul lost his wife in 1910 at the age of 39, my father was the youngest at 1yr old. Mary helped to rear this family and my father looked on her as his mother. My father was upset with Paul in the US as he reckoned that he sent Mary home when he was finished with her uses!!

Charles aka Cormac C.
He emigrated to PA but I have no further information on him and I would love to get some. !!!!

Patrick
He inherited the farm from his uncle Peter in Killaveha.
His son Francis took over the farm that his son Packy now owns.

Sally
She married John O'Donnell, Drumreilly, Co. Leitrim on 21/2/1887
She had 4 sons, none of whom married. Their estate was divided among her relations.

Catherine
She married a neighbour William Kiernan on 29/1/1883.
The Kiernan family still live there today.

Jane
I do not know what happened to her, she may have died young.

Paul (my grandfather)
He married Catherine McCabe from Gubbs, Cloone 6/2/1896
He took over the farm and had 7 children.

Francis Joseph b. 18/12/1896
Anna Maria b. 23/9/1897
Patrick b. 1900
James b. 18/5/1903
Katie b. unknown
Michael 23/5/1907
Paul 29/4/1909

Francis Joseph(Francie)
He married a neighbour Annie McGovern 19/2/1930
No Family. They had 1 baby born at 7 months which died.
He bought a small farm in Augharan, Aughavas, Co. Leitrim.
Francie was a renown tradesman in both building and carpentry. He built most of the houses in the locality during his time. He passed on his skills to my brothers.
Francie died in 1986
They left their land and house to my brother Francis (Frank).

Anna Maria
She was reared with her grandmother McCabe in Gubbs.
She married Patrick Tiernan, Aughavas 11/2/1929
They had 5 children.

Patrick
He married Bridget McNamara
He lived in Mountbellew, Co. Galway where he was stationed as a policeman
Children's Names
Maura, Patrick, Philomena, John, Gerald.
Phil (Bohan) Segerblom is the only living member of this family left.

James
He married Josephine Browne and he had 4 sons and was stationed in Kinsale, Co. Cork as a policeman.
Paul - ( Died in the 1980's)
Sean - Married Anne ? and had 2 sons and 1 daughter. His son Michael - Never married and is living in London
Joe - Married Marie ? And had 4 daughters, two of them are married.
We keep in regular contact with them and Joe visits us often. He has travelled allot in the US and he is currently visiting Phil Segerblom.

Katie
She married a widower named John-Joe O'Reilly (20/6/1938) who had 1 daughter, together they had 2 sons and a daughter named Patrick, John-Francis and Patricia. They lived in Ballinamuck, Co. Longford.
Katie died around 1980, her son Patrick died in the late 80's. John-Francis and Patricia both live in Dublin. JohnFrancis has 1 daughter and Patricia has 2 sons and 2 daughters.

Michael
He died in 1934 with what started out as a toothache but progressed to blood poisoning. My father brought him to 2 doctors but the first did nothing for him and by the time he seen the second he was too far gone. I believe he suffered great pain, he was 26yrs old.

Paul father

My father was reared by his aunt Mary Ellen as his mother died when he was 1yr old.He went on for the priesthood. He spent 4 years in Carlow studying theology but I think the money ran out and he left. He returned home to run the farm in Killyfea.
He married my mother Kathleen McKiernan, Augharan, Aughavas in November 1943. They had 12 children. He passed away on 8th Feb 1970, aged 60 years. I was 2yrs old and my sister was 1yr old. We both never knew him. He now has 44 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way.

Good Morning James
I am glad I could be of help. Could you provide me with Catherine McCabe's DOB and her parents & siblings names and if possible their D.O.B.'s.
Aisling and Tara are wonderful nieces, Pauline and Jim must be very proud of them.

Good work on your family, Ann. But I would suggest that they did not buy the land at Killyfea before the famine. In Griffith's Valuation, 10 years after the famine, they are still shown as tenants.

You might find it interesting, if you haven't already done so, to contact the irish Valuation Office to get details of the land-holders from 1850s to the early 20th century.

I heard somewhere that there was a Fanny Bohan that married a Sweeney and they had a son named Bernard. THis would of been in the early 1800's. Does anyone know of such relation:?
