Hello, My name is Tony and I'm searching for information on my Great grand father John Kerrigan, born 6 March 1853 he emmigrated to the U.S. arriving 11 May 1874, A Younger brother James Born 16 March 1860, arrived in the U.S. on 1 September 1886. Their father's name was John and mother's name Bridget. My Great grand father John was married to Helena ( Ellen ) McGrath in Boston Ma. on 5 July 1883, one of the witness listed on their church marriage record was a Margareta/Margaret Kerrigan born in Nov 1857(?), who arrived in the U.S.in 1881, already married to James, I suspect in Ireland prior to 1881. Another witness was Samuel McGrath, but I have not made a connection yet with Helena, both of whom were born in Ireland. Both John and his brother James were from Co. Leitrim, Ireland. Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm familiar with LDS, do not have access to Griffith's Valuation and I'm not familiar with PRONI Belfast micofilm copies for Kinlough Catholic Baptismal and Marriage records)1835-1881 records.
I have found three John Kerrigans who would be old enough to be my Great-Great Grandfather in the 1901 census, John age 80, from Clooncarren townland in the Parrish of Mohill, John age 79 from Boyannagh townsland in the Parrish of Rossinver and John age 85 from Ballynaboll township Parrish of Drumlease, but do not have a direct connection. Thankyou and a Happy New Year to All!!! Tony Morales

Thank you John for your assisstance in explainin PRONI and for the search results and direction you providedfor John and Bridget. The farmer age 65 in the 1901 census I discounted because my grand father was born in 1853, making him 17years old. In the 1901 cenus I located a John Kerrigan age 85 years old in Ballynaboll, Drumlease, Drumshaire, Co. Leitrim who was a farmer/ widowed with a daughter Mary age 27/not married. Also there was a Bridget Kerigan (80) born Co. Leitrim who was a Farmer/widow living in Lavally West, Kiillery, Tirerrill, Co. Sligo. These were in addition to The John Kerrigans in Boyannagh and Derrynaseer both in Rossinver, Rosclogher, Co Leitrim. One other John Kerrigan (80) Farmer with a wife named Briget (69) Born in Co. Roscommom) was listed for Clooncarren, Mohill, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.
I'll have to follow up on The John Kerrigan and Briget Mitchell you found for me in the civl Registar with the birth of a Daughter Mary. My Great-Grand father John and His wife had three children, all born in South Boston, Mary , John Joseph and my Grandfather James Francis, Kerrigan. With a brother named James, who had two children with his wife Margaret, Mary and James born either in South Boston or Brookline Ma.
