I am looking for any information pertaining to Cormack Martin/Kilmartin who was married to Mary McKeon in County Leitrim. Mary's father is listed as Garret McKeon. Cormacks father listed as James. They were both born between 1805-1816. Immigrated to Scotland abt. 1849. Children were Thomas b. 1837, Patrick, twin. James b. 1842 and Ann b. 1850 in Scotland. I am in search of their parentage and exact locations of births/marriage.

Ancestry.com has just added the Tithe Applotment basic information for Ireland - about 1824-1833. I am also interested in Martin/Kilmartin from Letrim who settled in Marlboro, Ma. Father: James and Mother: Mary McGee. Children born abt 1833-1845 in Leitrim. James and Mary (McGee) Martin/Kilmartin must have been about 1805-1815. I also know that there were McKeons in that vicinity. Check out the 1901/1911 Census online for additional help.
This is what I could find:
Martin, James
Townland Parish
Ardmoneen Drumreillly 1833
Moher Drumreillly 1833
Mullaghsallagh (James Jr) Kiltoghert 1833
Mullaghsallagh (James Sr) Kiltoghert 1833
James Kilmartin
Largy Donnell Loftus Tottenham Rossinver
(Leitrim and Sligo)
Mohercrieve Kiltoghert
Garret McKeon
Garrol - Drumkerrowan Fenagh 1824
Garrel - Gortnagullion Kiltubbrid 1833
I believe that these are all the Civil Parish.
Griffiths
Kiltubbrid:
William M'Keon Jn Francis Tottenham Gortnagullion, Kiltubbrid, Leitrim
(that matches both of the Garrett (Garrol/Garrel) McKeon as far as either the lessor (Tottenham) or parish townland.
Patrick Kilmartin Emma Morton Mullaghsallagh, Kiltoghert, Leitrim
I am interested in the Martin/Kilmartins from Kiltoghert Parish as that is where other relatives from Leitrim who emigrated were from. Specifically, I know that there were McGee's in Marlboro, Ma who were from Moheracreevy Glebe, Kiltoghert - I think the Mohercrieve above. Mullaghsallagh is also in the exact vicinity of Moheracreevy as well. These townlands in Kiltoghert are on the eastern edge of Kiltoghert and just slightly south and to the east is Kiltubbrid and Gortnagullion. Whether or not these Martin/Kilmartins were the parents of Thomas and James Martin who later emigrated to Marlborough, Ma I don't know yet.
This may have some clues for you to pursue but does not answer your question directly.
Good luck. |
