Have spent hours this month reading 1828 onward parish records for Killenummery. Can anyone tell me if "Shady" was a common nickname for ?Michael, ?Patrick? How about "Biddy"? Something short for ?Bridget?

Marty, Biddy is a nickname for Bridget. I never heard of Shady although some used Shaney for Sean/John. More likely, I think, is Thady which was common and an abbreviation for the Gaelic Thaigh for Timothy.
