I recently bought a used book from a bookstore in Ireland about Father
Mathew. When I go it home, it looked as though he had signed the engraved
picture of himself in the book. Nowadays, I would be suspicious that
the signature was "printed" instead of written. Does anyone know if
that was possible or common back then? In other words, is this likely
a hand written signature or just a "printed" signature?

Thanks for any information any of you might have.
